    Greeting to you folks. I've worked on a few amateur video projects over the past 2 years and want to look into becoming an editor. My previous background is in music so i have no formal qualifications.

    Much appreciated would be any reccomendations on the next step to take.

    I'm especially interested if anyone knows any websites or organizations where amateur filmakers collaborate ie. people who are looking for actors, directors...

    why not jump right in and edit footage in iMovie and see if you find it fun or a chore. iMovie is amazingly easy and if you find the hours passing by like minutes then editing is for you.

    there are quite excellent books out there on filmmaking that would be a good place to start because the information is generally accurate . . . Rick Schmidt, Dov SS Siemens, Scott Billups all have good books.
